Self-leveling concrete is a fantastic surface option that can correct uneven floors, repair damaged concrete, and provide a smooth and durable new surface for decorative treatments. This polymer-modified cement has high flow characteristics that allow it to self-level without the need for excessive amounts of water or troweling.
Self-leveling concrete has two main components of materials: underlayments and toppings. Underlayments are installed over existing subfloors which help smooth out and correct surface irregularities before installation of many types of floor coverings, including wood, ceramic tile, sheet vinyl, vinyl composition tile (VCT), and even carpet. Toppings perform a similar function but act as the actual finished floor without the need for a floor covering.
We typically install self-leveling concrete toppings over warehouse floors, light industrial facilities, retail stores, institutions, and residential dwellings. Concrete toppings are able to receive color dyes, stains, saw cuts or mechanical polishing to produce a decorative concrete finished wear surface. Self leveling concrete comes in either white or grey, which in itself makes for a beautiful floor. If color is desired, pigments are mixed into each batch thoroughly to obtain consistency providing for an integrally colored surface. We can also apply stains and dyes of various color and design to create unique designs.
Self leveling concrete cures smooth and flat with an occasional blemish typical of designer cement floors which adds to the allure. There are also sealer options which help the floor appear matte or glossy. We use water-based epoxies, acrylic sealers and urethane for all decorative concrete floors that provides protection and performance in high wear areas, enhancing the appearance.
